My Quicktime Referece export shows wrong pixels?

Postby Bobira » Thu Jun 17, 2010 4:53 am

When I export my sequence with Quicktime reference, it only show a video of - excuse my french - F.... up pixels. I don't have the technical terms to explain this so I uploaded a frame you can see here: http://esrapertan.com/test.jpg
So I can see it is the correct video but for some reason it's all mosaic and mixed up. I use Media Composer 3.1.3 on a MacBookPro 10.5.8.
This hasn't happened before on a previous smaller project. I have mixed media and mixed resolution in this project (25p) from P2 card import to Canon 550D. But this problem shows no matter if I have a mixed sequence or a simple clip (HD or canon footage). Any help is appreciated!

Usually this kind of image is a result of settings discrepancy between deck settings and the tape being played.
So my question is where do you see this picture? You export the sequence with referenced QT and.... some steps are missing here.

I export the reference to make a DVD of the material, but when I check the result in Quicktime palyer, it turns out like that. So I didn't even try to use the DVD program to re-encode it. Actually I get this result when I try to make a H264 quicktime at full resolution, but when I downsize it to a quarter then it looks normal. I get the same results when I export a clean clip with no cuts or effects, from a sequence or a clip directly. I use the default settings on export.

Well, evaluating a Media Composer sequence, with H264 media mixed in, exported as referenced QT movie is to evaluate just about noting, except that media isn't missing out right. The player is probably having a hard time switching between different rasters. Conform the sequence for standard definition and create the MPEG2 media before getting too worried about correct DVD playback.
